What a long strange trip it's been!
As I look back over the last year I cannot help but smile as all the wonderful things we have achieved. I don't just mean as plot members writing awesome stories, but players and characters growing and learning. I've am proud to be a part of a community where character growth goes hand and hand with player growth. I have seem players come to game that I thought wouldn't last 10 minutes. A game or two later I find myself heaping player rewards on them. I'm proud of our veterans who have repeatedly taken under their wing new players and trained them to be amazing players. You all have done so well.
First let me thank our plot team and npc's. You guys always go far beyond what is necessary. We are, at times, harsh bosses. We push you hard and we are tough to please but in the end you always come through and supersede our expectations. As a result we have games with 85 players after only one year of play. The fact that Underworld gets bigger and more amazing every event seems to show that we're on to something special here. You should be proud of yourselves.
Next up I'd like to thank our marshal teams. These guys and girls do so much work behind the scenes, most if it never seen by players. These players and staff give up their time before game, during game and after game to ensure you are safe, healthy, using safe weapons/armour, following the rules, and get into game fast with prelogging. You will likely never understand how much work these players put in until you do the job. Two outta this group deserve a special thank you, Murpy and Kat. Shawn is our Armour Marshal Lead and Kat is both our Medical Marshal Lead and does our prelog. Without the two of you I don't think we could do a game this size as well as we do.
Most importantly I want to thank our players. You are the most important part of the whole machine. Thanks for just being awesome and showing up, thanks for your donations over the years, thanks for thinking what we write is fun and enjoyable. I say this both for me and Ted but also for every plot member on our team.
We'd also like to thank Steph, Jay and Brian. Our three site managers over the last year. Without you guys we'd be playing in my backyard. Pat also gets a nod for taking care of the Acton site for us. Hopefully we'll be using it again soon for a day mod or two.
Last but definitely not least we are thankful to our wives. They also do a ton of work behind the scenes. Things like your red armbands and coins. More so they provide us with support when we stress the hell out because we have to move sites or when things get nasty. Doing this alone would suck.
If I missed anybody please don't be offended. There are so many people that contribute to the game in so many positive ways. We are very thankful and we hope you keep doing what you do to make the game better for all. Everybody needs to pat themselves on the back.
This sounds a lot like a "goodbye" post but really it's not. We have an event planned for Dec 6 and then pretty much every month after that until we start full weekend events next spring. Ted and I usually take Nov off so you might not see much of us around but we're still scheming. We'll keep the momentum and seeyou kids in the 2010 season.
